3 Killer tips to a beautifully styled living room

We're in the day and age where we all want our homes to look that little bit extra special and homely. Potentially a few years with extra time at home being the catalyst for this.. Pretty much everyone round the world locked up with their families realised how important it is to have somewhere that really FEELS like home!

Surely you agree that the most fun part of moving into a new house or apartment is styling? I honestly get so excited about the thought of redecorating and designing my home.

However, sometimes it can be confusing and you don't know what to buy or how they come together.

My BIGGEST tip before you buy anything is… create a mood board using Canva or any software so you can see how all the items will come together. Obviously if you do this in store this is a bit trickier but you can still print out images or steal catalogues. If you are shopping online then that is a MUST.

Too often I find people will buy so many nice items for their home but forget to check how they will tie in with the rest of their furniture and colour scheme.

So that being said, here are my:

3 Killer Tips to a beautifully styled living room

1. Incorporate bold statement pieces of furniture to create a focal point.

Okay so firstly.. Choose items that are both stylish and functional, such as an upholstered armchair, a coffee table, or a TV cabinet. Other great statement pieces could be:

  • Mirrors

  • Lamps

  • Sofas

  • Poufs/ Ottomans

  • Chaise longues

2. Add some texture and colour to the room with accessories.

This step is the most fun and you can honestly get carried away with this one but you can use almost anything, all the items below can all be used to create depth and warmth.

  • Throws

  • Cushions

  • Wall art

  • Rugs

  • Window treatments

  • Plants

  • Baskets

3. Make sure the pieces you choose fit the room's proportions.

Placing furniture that is too big or too small for the space can make the room look cluttered and unbalanced.

And if you really just don’t want to deal with the stress of doing it yourself and would like to ring an expert, well give me a call!
